The Inspiration of Ana Sui Designs

by Morgan Hamilton

Anna Sui has succeeded in reaching the top of the fashion business through a lot of hard work and determination. She is even included in Time Magazine's list of five most important fashion gurus of this decade. This amazing person was born in Detroit in 1955 and moved to New York City after she graduated from high school. Anna Sui enrolled at the prestigious Parsons School of Design and went on to work as a stylist for Steven Meisel, the fashion photographer.

Anna Sui found her own style after designing clothes as a young woman being inspired by the models in magazines. Throughout the 1980's, she developed her designing business and was ready to put on her first runway show in 1991. Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista modeled her work at these shows.

She launched her own clothing line the following year and opened the first of her boutiques in New York City. Anna Sui would eventually establish boutiques in Tokyo, Osaka, Hollywood and Los Angeles. A Strange Affinity For My Winter Boots
by Morgan Hamilton

Some people can be so in love with a pair of shoes that they want to wear them even when they're completely inappropriate for the season. I am one of those people because I feel bad all summer long because I can't wear my cute winter boots. Since it is too hot outside, I have to tuck my boots away in the closet until the weather gets cold enough again.

The winter boots that I am in love with are tan and chunky. They also have huge treaded soles that make them look like work boots. I can walk right through deep puddles if I am wearing my special winter boots with the huge soles. It feels as though I have the ability to walk on water. Wearing my winter boots adds two whole inches to my height as well as keeps my feet warm and dry. They're attractive and look cute when worn with a pair of jeans.

I'm always tempted to wear my winter boots in the summer when it's raining, even though I know that by the end of the day my feet will be miserable and hot. I know that my feet will be happy for those first few hours after I put them on. I will also be happy when I look down and see them at the bottom of my jeans. More...

To Be Fashionable Or To Be Oneself Is A Personal Choice
by Yva Lauten

Beauty, celebrity, and money are all a part of our life in society. To some it is their life style, to others is the luxury they cannot afford. Let us start by saying that there are three possible kinds of fashion and respectable fashion designers - catwalk fashion, the haute couture and every day fashion.

Designers belonging to the first group are pure artists who create clothes for visual pleasure rather than for any practical use whatsoever. They are all undoubtedly talented people. One admires their creative capabilities, ingenuity, and imagination. Internationally recognised designers stand out in their ability to use all sorts of materials, create intricately shaped designs from anything, including metal planks, cables, switches and plastic. The products of their creation will never see the light of day. One cannot blame the poor model for not being able to walk more than fifteen metres down the cat walk without stumbling along because of the silk laces tying her heels. This would be the designer's lost touch with reality. It is clear that these sandals will never be worn at a VIP party and definitely not in the street.

A fashion show is a part of entertainment, like a concert, ballet or other aesthetic event after which the performers put their clothes down and leave them in the wardrobes. More...

Getting a Pedicure
by Vinay Choubey

A pedicure is a way to improve the appearance of the feet, and their nails. It basically is a manicure for the feet. The word pedicure comes form the Latin words pes, which means foot, and cura, which means care. It also means the care of the feet and toenails. A pedicure can be helpful because it can prevent nail diseases and nail disorders.

Some women hide their feet in sneakers, loafers or sandals that cover most of the foot. Others show their feet in thongs or skinny sandals. Those who show their feet, and occasionally those who don't, may want to get a pedicure. A pedicure is a manicure for the feet.

A pedicure will usually take about 30 minutes, depending on the services offered. A basic pedicure will include a foot soak, having the toenails trimmed and shaped, having the cuticles trimmed and the calluses pumiced, and finally having the toenails painted. Some salons offer extra services such as foot massage, hot paraffin baths and even salt or kelp wraps. The whole idea is to make the feet look as attractive as possible.

A woman considering a pedicure will probably want to see if the salon she regularly goes to offers the service and how much it costs, along with what services are included. If pedicures are not offered at her regular salon, she can often look in the yellow pages to see what salons in her area do offer them.

The Cost Of Shoes
by Dana Bradley

Let's face it. Shoes are a necessity in the United States. Can you imagine walking around at a store or other public place and people are all barefoot? You won't see this too often in this country. Despite this fact, there are many people that advocate barefoot living, claiming that it's healthier than covering the feet, even when walking out on the streets. They also claim that sharp objects such as broken glass would not penetrate the feet, even if stepped directly on, because the feet toughen up after walking barefoot for a while, providing a natural, protective barrier.

In other cultures, people don't worry about wearing shoes, mainly because they can't afford them. Others must hand-make their own shoes, or go without.

Shoes protect our feet from the weather, among other things. They are not only necessary, but they also go great with different outfits. There are all types of shoes, too: Athletic, dressy, casual, sandals and boots, just to name some. These come in so many price ranges and styles that it would be impossible to name them all at once.

So since people wear shoes anyway, they may as well wear shoes that are attractive, stylish and fun. Some people, especially women, have a pair of shoes to match each and every outfit that they own. More...
